The Dutch tourism checklist asks for a reservation in the applicant’s name for travel to and from Schengen, OR another document showing travel plans; a paid ticket is unnecessary. A schedule-only itinerary without PNR may fit the alternative travel-plans wording, but acceptance is decided for the individual application. Submit at VFS Global in Harare if resident in Zimbabwe.

fact_checkSources and further reading
We used the sources below to prepare this guide. Official sources are the place to check current visa requirements. Community discussions can offer practical experiences, but they may not apply to your application.
Based on the guidance linked above, a flight schedule appears suitable for this application. Tripenger’s Basic package shows your planned flights without an airline reservation or PNR. Please check the latest requirements with the relevant visa authority before ordering.
A trip to the Netherlands could be an Amsterdam holiday, a visit to friends or a family celebration. Zimbabwean ordinary passport holders normally need a visa. Short visits use a Schengen visa (type C), for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. A longer study or residence plan follows separate Dutch immigration procedures, which may include an MVV entry visa. For tourism, the Dutch checklist allows a reservation or another document showing your travel plans.
You do not need a paid travel ticket for the Dutch tourism application. A clearly labelled schedule-only itinerary can be an option under the checklist’s allowance for another travel-plan document; Tripenger’s Basic package provides that type of document. Choose a reservation package if you want a PNR or the authority specifically requests a booking. This guide concerns the European Netherlands.
Use these official pages for the latest checklist and submission instructions. Tripenger’s package recommendations and flight-planning advice are interpretations of the guidance, not an embassy endorsement or a guarantee of visa approval.
These discussions helped identify practical questions for the FAQs. They contain personal experiences, which may differ from your circumstances and can include outdated or incorrect advice. Use the official sources above for requirements.
Where do I submit my Netherlands visa application in Zimbabwe?
If you live in Zimbabwe, submit your Schengen application at the Netherlands’ VFS Global centre in Harare by appointment. Complete your own online application form first and select the checklist for tourism, business or visiting family and friends. Follow NetherlandsWorldwide’s Zimbabwe instructions to reach the correct booking service. VFS receives the application; it does not decide whether to issue the visa.
What type of flight itinerary do I need for the Netherlands?
For tourism, the official checklist allows a travel reservation in your name or another document showing your plans to enter and leave Schengen. It also says a paid ticket is unnecessary. Tripenger interprets this as allowing a clearly labelled schedule-only itinerary for that checklist. A PNR is an optional reservation upgrade unless your applicable instructions specifically ask for one.
Do I have to buy a paid flight ticket before my Netherlands visa is approved?
No paid travel ticket is required under the Dutch tourism checklist. You can show your proposed journey using a reservation or another travel-plan document. Buy the actual fare when you are ready to commit, taking account of the visa decision and fare conditions. The price of an itinerary service is separate from the airfare you will eventually pay.
Can I book a different flight after my visa is approved?
Usually, yes. You can choose another airline or flight time for the same genuine visit to the Netherlands. Keep travel within the visa’s validity, permitted stay and entries, and update accommodation and insurance as needed. Carry your current booking confirmations when travelling. Ask the issuing authority about changes to your main destination or purpose. Once approved, search Tripenger for flight deals to the Netherlands.
How long will my flight reservation remain valid?
A reservation with a PNR lasts until the airline’s ticketing or cancellation deadline; it is not automatically held until your visa decision. Check the deadline before ordering and make sure the booking is valid when you submit it. If the visa office later requests updated evidence, arrange a fresh reservation. A schedule-only itinerary has no reserved seats to expire.
What if I am staying with friends or relatives in the Netherlands?
Use the family-and-friends checklist if that is your main purpose. Your host may need the Dutch proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation form, with the required municipal legalisation and identity documents. If you pay your own costs, you still need to show the accommodation arrangement and your funds. Do not use a tourism hotel booking to disguise a private stay.
Can I include Belgium or Germany in my Netherlands itinerary?
Yes. Show the complete trip, including where you will sleep and how you will move between countries. For a holiday with the same purpose throughout, apply to the country where you will spend the longest time. If stays are equal and no main destination can be identified, use the first Schengen country of entry. Choose the application country from your actual plan.
Do I need an agent to book my VFS appointment?
No. NetherlandsWorldwide advises applicants to book their own appointment and avoid unnecessary intermediary costs. Each traveller needs their own appointment. An itinerary order from Tripenger does not include an embassy appointment or visa submission. Use the official Zimbabwe application page to reach VFS, and keep your appointment confirmation with your application documents.
Does this advice also apply to a student or long-stay visa?
A degree course or residence plan lasting more than 90 days normally requires the Dutch long-stay process, rather than a tourist Schengen application. Depending on your circumstances, an MVV entry visa and residence permit may be needed. Start with your recognised educational sponsor or the Dutch immigration authority. Do not assume the tourist checklist’s flight-document option also applies to an MVV application.
How do I order a flight itinerary for the Netherlands on Tripenger?
Go to Tripenger’s itinerary page, enter your proposed journey and select the package matching your document requirement. Basic supplies a flight schedule without a PNR and is delivered within 10 minutes of payment confirmation. Choose a PNR package when you need a reservation, and check its delivery and hold terms. Airline booking retrieval is subject to the airline’s systems and ticketing deadlines. Tripenger does not decide your visa application.
Can I order an accommodation itinerary or hotel booking on Tripenger?
Not yet. Tripenger does not currently provide accommodation itineraries or hotel bookings. Book the accommodation you actually intend to use. For tourism, the checklist asks for a reservation or rental agreement for the trip; private stays use the relevant host documents. A flight itinerary covers your flights only.
Can I buy travel insurance for the Netherlands on Tripenger?
Not yet. Tripenger does not currently sell travel insurance; buy your policy separately from an insurer. The Dutch checklist requires a policy in your name, covering all Schengen countries for your full stay and at least €30,000 for the listed medical and repatriation costs. An itinerary purchase does not include insurance.
